Corporate
Profile
The
Professional Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) currently based in
Clawson, Michigan was established in May 1995. Initially, it
was a twinkle in the eye of founder Arthur Dickinson, a national
multiline insurance broker, who through his large municipal program,
identified a growing need for individualized legal coverage
available to members of the law enforcement community. His
vision was formulated into what soon became the Professional Law
Enforcement Association Legal Defense Plan. Unique in its
concept, the association was marketed as a vehicle to provide legal
representation for employment related problems specific to law
enforcement through the services of highly qualified 'plan'
attorneys. These 'plan' attorneys were contracted to handle
matters involving defense of civil, criminal and administrative duty
related issues.
The association,
which is a non-profit ERISA based program, has continued to expand
its national membership base for the past 15 years. Today,
PLEA has over 10,000 members located in 38 states, and a roster of
over 200 'plan' attorneys servicing the members in their
communities.
We attribute the
growth of our business to our trusted relationships with our members
and the growing group of highly qualified 'plan' attorneys who stand
ready to provide the members with skillful representation.
The majority of our Board of Directors are retired police officers who
identify with the needs and issues of Law Enforcement Personnel.
Today PLEA continues to grow as groups and
Individuals across the country join for the many important benefits. For
more information please contact Leslie McMahon, our Executive Director, at
